The
main purpose of risk management is to protect public health by managing
risks in the most effective way, selecting and applying the most suitable
measures. The consumption of safety products is the end of a work process involving many agents: farmers, transporters, distributors, handlers, and other members of the food chain, who daily perform activities which may have an effect in food safety. The administration at all levels plays a relevant role in food risks management. The administration should control and revise the daily behaviour of those manufacturing, processing, transporting and preparing foodstuffs through laws, motivating programs, training and education, and monitoring programs. Likewise, the administration should take into account that there are very different types of foodstuffs, several stages in production and many potential risks concerning food consumption. That is the reason why flexibility is required when attempting to apply more effective resources to risk management. |

| Objective 1 | |
| To
unify criteria for risk management in the different organisation levels. |
|
|
Taking
into account that there are nowadays in Egypt several departments in
different ministries which are related to food safety, an effort should
be made to homogenise and unify criteria, making sure that there is
not any uncovered area or any inconsistency. |
|
| ACTIONS | |
To
define responsibilities for each of the organisation levels. To establish communication and coordination mechanisms. |
|
|
|
| |
|
|
In
order to attain the objectives described below, important efforts should
be made in different aspects, together with important advances in communication
and coordination. Therefore, an efficient system to coordinate private
and public sectors, and also public local, regional and national administrations
is required. |
